Is this the 3 Row Family Hauler You Should Buy? This new edition of the Highlander comes in only 2 colours and is a 7 passenger instead of an 8 passenger

The Toyota Highlander is one of the most popular 3 row suv people movers out there. How popular? Well this reviewer has owned one for the last 7 years. For 2022, Toyota has expanded the Highlander stable with a new Bronze Edition. This new version is built off of the popular Highlander XLE Hybrid AWD trim. The Bronze sits in between the XLE and Limited trim and in Canada is priced at $53,080.

So what stands out with this new special edition? Of course with the name Bronze you’re going to find lots of bronze bits including the 18” wheels, a hands free power tailgate and the trim is only available in 2 colours, this wind chill pearl and cement.

Inside you’ll find bronze stitching as well as mid century modern inspired seats with fabric inserts with a 10 way drivers seat. Also included is a 7” drivers display and 8” infotainment screen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Bronze also features a digital rearview mirror but doesn’t come with the birds eye view 360 camera found on the top Limited Platinum trim. The XLE Bronze comes with captains seats for the second row while the regular XLE comes with a bench so if you are wanting 8 seats, you’ll have to stick with the XLE as the XLE Bronze has a 7 passenger capacity. For any activities that may require electricity, the bronze is equipped with a standard 1500W inverter with 2 120V outlets which should power most anything that you could throw at it which makes it perfect for camping, tailgating or even powering your freezer or other 120V appliances.

We’ve done extensive road trips in our own and the new Highlander Hybrid  and can tell you that the new 2.5L 4 cylinder with Toyota’s Hybrid  system is not only thrifty but very capable with a full load of people and baggage. The combined 243hp runs through 3 electric motors (2 front, 1 rear for AWD) and an eCVT.
